A day when a round of golf can help fight cancer and find cures; a day to cultivate lasting business relationships with clients, prospects and area business leaders. This year, the Greater Cleveland Golf Classic is celebrating 20 years of saving lives on the Canterbury Golf Course; raising over $4.5 million dollars over the last 19 years to help fund the mission of the American Cancer Society. About the Course: Canterbury Golf Club has been nationally recognized as one of the top 100 golf courses in the U.S. and one of the finest in Ohio. Designed by Herbert Strong, the traditional Scottish course was expertly constructed to embrace the area’s natural topography resulting in a demanding, but fair, course with a great variation of holes. Founded in 1921, it has a rich history of major golf championships including the US Open, PGA Championship, Senior Open, US Amateur Championship, and Senior PGA Championship. Canterbury is only the second club in the country to have hosted all five of the major golf championships that are played throughout the country. From Bryson Dechambeau to Jack Nicklaus, some of golf’s best known names have tested their skills here at one of Cleveland’s finest courses.
As the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, discovery, and patient support, the American Cancer Society has made significant contributions to the fight against cancer over the last 110 years. We advocate for lifesaving policy changes, promote healthy lifestyles to help prevent cancer, and provide information, answers, and support to people in every community who have been touched by cancer. We also research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatment.
Yet, there is still work to be done – which is why we are so glad you have joined us tonight! The American Cancer Society continues to work tirelessly to fund research and provide support for all types of cancer. And thanks to your generous support, we work to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
Every cancer. Every life.
